Magazine Collage

This is my magazine collage that I designed. I took cut outs from other magzines to create an idea for my house style. The fonts I have found are all ones that our of similar style and when using fonts in my final magazine I want to create a similar effect to the ones in my collage. Do do this I will need to use block capitals and big lettering. I think that this style of font and layout will be one that suits my genre of 'Drum n Bass' and 'Dubstep'.

Magazine Ideas

For my final magaizne piece I have decided to create a Drum and Bass/Dubstep magazine. There are not many magazines out there based on these kinds of genre but there are a few examples.

I mainly looked at the magazine 'ATM' which is focuses mainly on Drum and Bass.

This was the first example that I looked at. I think that this cover works really well with the red colour scheme and it gives off a good vibe. It is not overloaded with colours or information and is basic yet effective. There is almost a 'graffiti' like look to the title and writing that features on the cover which suits the genre.

This is another example that I looked at. This cover again is very simple but works well and the font, image and colour scheme used all work together and match well. The cover is not overloaded with information
and overall it is a really clean cover.

Final Advert Piece

This my final advert piece that I have produced. I based my advert on alcohol awareness I think that the final image I have came out with works very effictivley. I played around with the brightness and contrast of the image and I also cropped the image down. I then went on to add the 'Alcohol Know Your Limits' Logo and then also added a black boarder around the edge. Overall I think that the advert has worked really well and the message it gives has worked and is clear. To improve this advert I think I could of improved the boarderto make it look cleaner and also made sure the photograph was fully in focus.

This is my final front cover for my school magazine preliminary task

Adverts

I think that this advertisement is very effective in the way that the image is seen by the audience. The image is the first thing that stands out from the page and the purpose of it is to make the viewer feel nauseous. There is also important information on the flyer like numbers and also other bits of information.









I think that this advertisement is simple yet effective. The message used is one that is a bit different yet it still captures the attention of the audience and gets them thinking. There is a great sense of realism about this advert as well. The image used looks like something you would come across on a typical night out which is why realism comes across. There is also the well know "Alcohol Know Your Limits" slogan in the bottom right corner which features on many of these kind of adverts.






This advertisement again is one that is very effective. It uses two images of before and after. The 'after' image is bigger and emphasised more in the advert. The image used is one that catches the attention of the audience straight away as it makes us feel shocked. There is also a good catchy slogan at the top which is in big bold letters and stands out. There is also useful information at the bottom of the advert about the person and then name of the charity etc.

Front Cover Picture

This is the original picutre that I took and went to use as the front cover of my magazine. With reference to photoshop, I cropped the image a significant amount so it was in the shape of a magazine cover. By doing this I erased unecessary background imagery. I then changed the brightness and contrast levels and also erased all of the leaves from the grass to give a much cleaner look.

Magazine Ideas

The layout of this magazine is simple and not overloaded with writing and photographs, which I like the idea of. The writing it does feature stands out from the backgorund and is easy to read. The headlines are written in block capitals so they stand out even more. We can also see straight away what genre of magazine this is. Bad points of this magazine are the fact that there is an overload of primary colours which doesn't make the magazine very safisticated.

A good point about this magazine is that I think the idea of writing on left side and photograph on the right works well. However I think the design lacks in colour as all the writing it does feature is in boring old black and white, however you could argue that this gives it a more mature look which could work towards its target audience. The information it contains is simple and gets the point across well.

I think that this magazine has a very interesting cover that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The colour and type of font contrasts well with the phototgraph that is used. The title stands out big and bold from the magazine and gives off a good vibe. A bad point about this magazine I would say is that there maybe isn't enough information on the front about what features inside.
